Send the receipt. Sumly does the typing.

Forward supplier bills to your company's own address, upload them or scan receipts with the Sumly app for iPhone and Android. Sumly reads each one into a draft purchase. You pick the accounts and post it.

  • On every plan
  • No charge per document
  • Nothing posts without you
  • Three ways in

Your company gets its own email address on documents.sumly.cy. Forward bills to it, drag files onto the Inbox or scan a receipt with your phone.
  • Filled in for you

Sumly AI reads the supplier, number, dates, currency and lines into a draft. It matches a supplier you already have, or offers to create one from the details on the bill.
  • Paid or unpaid

Post a bill as paid, against the bank line that settled it, or as unpaid until the money goes out. For an unpaid bill, Sumly suggests the bank line and you approve it.

Every bill in one inbox.

Bills you forward, upload or scan with the app all land in the Inbox. Sumly reads each document and shows its type, supplier, amount and dates on its card.

  • Attachments in PDF, JPEG, PNG, CSV or TXT, up to 20 MB each
  • Email receipts with no attachment saved as a PDF
  • Search by filename or by what's in the document
  • A new purchase or sale started from any card

Pick the account, the VAT follows.

The review takes a document through four steps: Type, Contact, Details and Payment. Choose an account for each line and the VAT code fills in from that account's default.

  • Gross amounts as printed, with the VAT split out to the cent
  • Cyprus defaults, such as 9% on staff meals and exempt on insurance
  • EU and non-EU reverse charge, with both sides of the VAT posted
  • Sumly stops at a file that isn't a bill and offers Skip or Delete

Bills in dollars, books in euro.

Sumly converts a bill in another currency at the ECB reference rate for its invoice date. When you pay it from a euro account, you enter what left the bank and Sumly posts the exchange gain or loss.

  • The exchange rate shown under the currency field
  • Payments matched to a bank line or added by hand, with any bank fee
  • Supplier refunds recorded against the bill
  • Each bill marked Unpaid, Partially paid, Paid or Overdue

How it works.

Sumly does the reading and the VAT maths. You check the draft and post it.

  1. Send it in

Forward the bill, drop it on the Inbox or scan it with your phone.

  2. Sumly does this

    Sumly reads it

Sumly AI works out what kind of document it is and fills in the draft from it.

  3. Check the supplier and accounts

Confirm the supplier, or create it from the bill. Then pick an account for each line, and the VAT code fills in.

  4. Post it, paid or unpaid

Match the bank line that paid it, tick that it's already paid, or post it unpaid.

  5. Sumly does this

    Sumly finds the payment

When the payment shows up in your bank lines, Sumly suggests the match. You approve it.

Also in Expenses.

  • Cyprus VAT codes

19%, 9%, 5%, 3%, 0%, exempt and non-deductible, plus EU and non-EU reverse charge. Each code maps to its boxes on the VAT return.
  • Supplier defaults

Pick a supplier and its default currency and payment terms carry over. The due date fills itself in.
  • Drafts that wait

A draft saves half-finished. It waits under Drafts on the Purchases page until you finish it.
  • The original, attached

The bill stays attached to the purchase. Delete a draft and its files go back to the Inbox.
  • Who you owe

Posted bills feed the Payables and Aged Payables reports, so you see what you owe each supplier.
  • Ask Sumly AI

Ask the assistant to draft a bill from a file in your Inbox. You approve it in chat, then post it from Purchases.

Works together.

Everything in Sumly writes to the same books, so each part knows what the others did.

Expenses, answered.

No. Forwarding puts the bill in your Inbox with its details read. You confirm the supplier, pick an account for each line and post it. Nothing reaches your books before that.

No, you do. Each line arrives with the account empty. Once you pick one, the VAT code fills in from that account, such as 19% on office supplies or the EU reverse charge on software. If the account has no default, Sumly uses the supplier's own VAT code. You can change it before you post.

Email takes PDF, JPEG, PNG, CSV and TXT attachments up to 20 MB each. Uploads on the web take files up to 5 MB each. If a receipt arrives as an email with no attachment, Sumly saves the email itself as a PDF in your Inbox.

Yes. The Sumly app for iPhone and Android scans a receipt with the camera, or takes a photo or PDF you already have. Send it to the Inbox, or book a simple expense right there. Anything the app can't book waits for review on the web.

Tick "This purchase is already paid" on the draft. If you paid by card, use "Scan for matching bank transactions" and take the details from the bank line. Either way, the bill posts as paid.

Pick the bill's currency on the draft. Sumly uses the ECB reference rate for the invoice date, and any exchange gain or loss posts when you pay. Sumly can only post a currency the ECB publishes a rate for.

No. Expenses come with every plan, and there's no charge per bill or receipt. The software has a 30-day free trial.

Members and accountants can upload, review and post bills. Viewers can see purchases but can't add or change them.

Try it on this month's bills.

30 days free on the software. Forward a few bills to your company's address and check the drafts Sumly fills in.
