Helpful, but not advice
Our guides, articles, calculators and calendars exist to make Cyprus tax and company law make sense. We put real work into them, where every figure has a source behind it, and we date them so you can check for yourself.
What they can't do is know your situation. Two companies with identical turnover can owe quite different amounts for reasons a general article can't see, and Cyprus law changes over time. So treat what you read here as a way to get oriented and ask sharper questions, not as advice written for you. If something looks like it applies to your company, confirm it before you act on it. We're happy to help you do that.
What we are
Sumly is a technology company. We build accounting software for Cyprus companies, and we organise the professional services that go around it.
We aren't a law firm, an audit firm or a regulated financial adviser, and we don't pretend otherwise. What we're good at is making the software do the heavy lifting and making sure the right people are involved at the right moment.
Who actually does what
Some work has to be done by licensed professionals. Where that's the case, we partner with them to make sure it's done right.
- Company formation, yellow slip, tax residency and other filings go through the licensed providers and lawyers we cooperate with. Cyprus incorporation needs a declaration signed by a lawyer, and that signature is theirs.
- Audits and review engagements belong to independent, ICPAC-licensed auditors. Sumly never audits anyone. We introduce you, and the engagement is between you and them.
- Bookkeeping done on your behalf is handled by a Sumly certified bookkeeper, working inside your own Sumly account. They are bookkeepers with deep knowledge of the Sumly platform, but not necessarily certified accountants.
We build the software, coordinate the work and keep you posted, so it feels like one place rather than four. Each professional stays responsible for their own work and their own professional obligations. That is your protection too, as it means a qualified person's name is on it.

What we can't control
Whether an application is approved, and how long it takes, is up to the Cyprus authorities, like the Registrar, the Tax Department, migration offices, banks. We can put together a strong, complete application and chase it properly. We can't decide it, and we'd rather not promise you a timeline that was never ours to promise.
Our guarantee is about your money rather than the outcome. If an application or registration isn't fully approved and completed, you get your fee back, less any government charges we have already paid on your behalf.
Our responsibility
We take the software and the service we provide seriously, and when we get something wrong we want to hear about it and put it right.
That said, as with any company, there are limits to what we can be held responsible for. Decisions you take on the basis of the general information published here, the work of the independent professionals we introduce you to, and systems outside our control such as your bank or a government portal.
Links to other places
We link out to government portals, banks and registries whenever it saves you a search. Those sites aren't ours, so we can't vouch for what they say, whether they're up, or how they handle your data.
The legal bit
This page is governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, and the Cyprus courts have jurisdiction over anything arising from it.
