The checklist confirms each item is filled in. A receipt shows that you were paid. A business customer that reclaims VAT needs a full VAT invoice too, which the invoice generator makes. Your draft is saved in this browser, so a refresh keeps it. Start over clears it.

What a receipt should show.

A receipt is proof that you were paid. Give each one a number and enough detail that you and your customer can match it to the sale later.

  • A number in sequence

Number receipts in their own series, with no gaps. You can find any receipt again, and it shows none are missing.
  • When and how you were paid

The date the money arrived and how it came: cash, card or bank transfer. Add the invoice it settles, if there is one.
  • Who was paid, and by whom

Your company's legal name and address, and your Cyprus VAT number if you're registered. Then the name of the person or company that paid.
  • What it was for

"Website design, deposit" says enough. "Payment" doesn't. A clear description lets both sides book the receipt correctly.
  • The amount and the VAT

The amount received. When you're VAT-registered, the VAT rate on each line and the VAT in euro.
  • An invoice, when it's needed

A business customer that reclaims VAT needs a full VAT invoice. A simplified one, like a till receipt, is only for retail sales up to €85.

No. An invoice asks for payment, and when you're VAT-registered it's the document your customer reclaims VAT with. A receipt confirms you've been paid. If you invoiced the sale first, put the invoice number in the receipt's reference so the two match.

Yes, if they want to reclaim the VAT. A retailer can give a simplified invoice, such as a till receipt, for sales up to €85 including VAT. It shows your name, address and VAT number, the date, what was sold, and the VAT rate. For a business customer that reclaims VAT, issue a full VAT invoice whatever the amount. The invoice generator makes one.

Your name and address, who paid you, what for, the date and the amount. No VAT number and no VAT, because you must not show VAT you aren't registered to charge. Pick "Not registered" at the top of the generator and it leaves the VAT out.

Yes. Pick Cash under Paid by. Keep a copy for your books. A cash sale leaves no bank record, so the receipt is the evidence of it.

At least six years, like the rest of your business records. From 1 January 2026, the six years run from the tax return's filing deadline or the date you actually filed it, whichever is later. Save each PDF you make here, because the generator only keeps the draft you're working on.
