Your Shopify sales, booked without the export.

Install the Sumly plugin on your Shopify store. Every order, refund, shipping charge and fee reaches your Cyprus books on the right VAT code.

  • Orders booked line by line
  • Refunds on the same VAT code
  • Fees booked as costs

What it brings into your books.

Your store already knows what it sold, what it refunded and what Shopify charged. The plugin sends that to Sumly, so nobody rebuilds it from reports at month end.

  • Every order with its lines and the shipping you charged, recorded as a sale.
  • The VAT code on each line, from the treatment you confirmed. Sales in Cyprus, to EU businesses and outside the EU stay apart from the start.
  • Refunds and returns, booked against the order they reverse, with the VAT reversed on the same code.
  • Shopify's transaction fees, booked as a cost. Your revenue stays at what customers paid.
  • Payouts to your bank, matched to the bank line they arrive on. Sumly suggests the match and you approve it.

How to connect it.

Setup happens once, on your store and in Sumly.

  1. Install the plugin

Add the Sumly plugin to your Shopify store.

  2. Point it at your company

Connect the plugin to your Sumly company, so every order goes into the right books.

  3. Confirm how your sales are taxed

Go through what the store sells and who it sells to, once. Sumly applies that VAT treatment to every order after it.

  4. Connect your bank

Add the account Shopify pays into, so Sumly can suggest a match for each payout.

Shopify and Sumly: questions

No. The plugin sends orders, refunds, shipping, fees and payouts to Sumly for you. There's no CSV to download and nothing to type in.

It depends on what you sell and where the customer is. A customer in Cyprus pays Cyprus VAT at the rate for those goods, which can be 19% or a reduced rate. A VAT-registered business elsewhere in the EU pays no Cyprus VAT, and sales outside the EU have their own treatment. You confirm this once, and the plugin books each line on the code that fits.

Sumly never edits a posted sale. The refund is an entry of its own, linked to the order it reverses, so your auditor can follow both.

Sumly prepares it from the store's sales, and a person submits it. That's you on Base, Sumly on Plus, and your Sumly certified bookkeeper on Premium. Creating the return locks the period, so no new entry can change its figures.

Yes. The plugin books into a Sumly company, so it needs a Sumly plan behind it. Sumly has a 30-day free trial, so you can watch your own orders arrive before you decide.

If it runs on WooCommerce, there's a Sumly plugin for that too. For your own checkout or another platform, your developer can send sales to Sumly through the REST API.
