100% approval guarantee

If your company is not approved, you get every euro back — there is no fine print.

Formation is the first hour. This is the rest of it.

A Cyprus company is not a document you collect — it is an address, a secretary, a set of registers, a VAT number, a year-end audit and, often, a move. Sumly is the one provider for all of it.

1 · START IT

The company, registered

€950 one-time

Name check, the registrar filing, UBO, tax and VAT/VIES registration. One fixed fee, and a Revolut Business application prepared alongside it so there is an account waiting when the certificate lands.

2 · GIVE IT AN ADDRESS

Registered office, secretary, director

A real Cyprus address on the public register with your post forwarded, €300 a year. A secretary who keeps the statutory registers and files with the Registrar, €200 a year. A Cyprus-resident director where the company needs to be managed from here, €800 a year — you keep full ownership throughout.

3 · RUN IT

The books, and the person who signs off

The accounting platform from €39 a month: invoicing, automatic bank reconciliation, and VAT, VIES and tax returns prepared from live books. Add your own Sumly certified bookkeeper at €190 a month, and the audit when the year closes.

4 · MOVE YOURSELF

Residency, if you are coming too

The Yellow Slip for EU citizens at €400 per applicant, and Cyprus tax residency with the non-dom registration at €750 per applicant — seventeen years with no Special Defence Contribution on dividends.

BOOKS FROM DAY ZERO

Your books start today — not when the registry says so

Cyprus lets a company deduct expenses incurred up to 6 months before establishment — so Sumly starts your books the day you order formation, before the company exists. The moment you order, your dashboard opens — book expenses immediately and watch the registration status live.

THE PLATFORM

The company keeps running long after it is registered

Formation is a one-off. The books are every month for as long as the company exists, and that is the part a registration service leaves you holding. Sumly is an accounting platform first: connect the bank, forward the receipts, and the transactions sort themselves. The average Sumly user saves €3,210 a year against an accounting firm.

Formation questions, answered

How do I register a company in Cyprus online?

Start by booking a meeting using the calendar on this page. We discuss your company, confirm what you need, then collect identification and the company details to prepare and file the registry paperwork. Everything is online — the order, the documents, and the live registration status in your Sumly dashboard. You never visit an office, and you can do it from anywhere, in Cyprus or abroad. Cyprus company registration runs through the Registrar of Companies, and the paperwork is the same whoever files it. What differs is who does the chasing: with Sumly the process is a fixed-price service with a named status view, not an email thread with a law firm.

Do I need a lawyer to open a company in Cyprus?

No. Cyprus company formation does not require you to hire a lawyer yourself; a licensed service provider can prepare and file the registration for you. Sumly does exactly that — for a fixed fee, with a 100% approval guarantee, and without the hourly billing or slow correspondence founders associate with law firms. Where a lawyer genuinely adds value — a complex shareholder agreement, a regulated activity, a dispute — we'll say so. For a standard Cyprus limited company, the registration itself is a process, not legal advice.

What documents will I need?

Identification and a few company details — we prepare all the registry paperwork for you. If you want the full list before you start, our guide to the documents you need to register a company walks through each one.

Can I choose any company name?

The name must be approved by the Registrar and cannot be identical or confusingly similar to an existing one. Give us two or three options when you order — we check them before filing, which is part of how we keep the approval guarantee.

Is there a minimum share capital for a Cyprus limited company?

Cyprus sets no meaningful minimum for a private limited company in practice — most founders register with a nominal share capital. We set it up with you when you order; the exact figure is your choice.

Should I register as self-employed instead of forming a company?

It depends on income, clients and liability. Sumly registers both, at a fixed price with the same guarantee — but only a limited company gets its books run on the Sumly platform. If you expect to grow, invoice other businesses, or want to separate liability, a company is usually the better fit.

Can a foreigner register a company in Cyprus?

Yes. Non-residents and non-EU citizens can own and register a Cyprus limited company, and with Sumly the whole process is remote — no visit required, from the order to the live registration status. There are extra questions for non-residents, about directors, banking and tax residency, and they have a page of their own: company formation for non-residents.

What is the cheapest way to form a company in Cyprus?

A fixed-fee online formation service — one price, told upfront, no hourly billing. Sumly charges €950 one-time: lower than a law firm, none of the deprioritisation, and the accounting platform ready the day you order, so you don't pay twice to get the books started. The real cost of formation isn't only the fee: it's the weeks of not knowing, the second invoice for setting up accounting, and the pre-establishment receipts nobody booked. Sumly removes all three.

How long does company registration in Cyprus take?

Most registrations complete within a few weeks, depending on the Registrar's workload and how quickly the name is cleared. You don't wait blind: the live status in your Sumly dashboard shows each step as it happens, and your bookkeeping runs in parallel from day one, so the waiting time is not lost time.

Can I start bookkeeping before my company is approved?

Yes — and you should. Cyprus allows a company to deduct expenses incurred up to six months before establishment. Because Sumly runs both the formation and the books, your Sumly account opens the day you order: forward the receipts you're already collecting, and they land in the books before the registration is approved.

What does Sumly do after the company is registered?

Most of it, and this is the part founders underestimate. Your registered office — a real Cyprus address on the public register, with the post forwarded — is €300 a year. The nominee secretary who keeps the statutory registers and files with the Registrar is €200 a year. A Cyprus-resident director, for when management and control need to sit here, is €800 a year, and you keep full ownership throughout. The accounting platform runs from €39 a month, your own Sumly certified bookkeeper from €190, and the year-end audit from €950. We discuss these services on the call and invoice only the ones you agree to.

Do I need a registered office address, a secretary and a director?

A registered office and a secretary are required — every Cyprus company must have both, and the address must be a real Cyprus one because that is where the Registrar and the Tax Department send post. A director is required too, but it does not have to be a Cyprus resident: you can be your own. A Cyprus-resident nominee director matters when you want the company managed and controlled from Cyprus rather than from where you live, which is usually a tax question rather than a company-law one. Which of these you actually need depends on your case, and it is the first thing we go through on a call.

Can Sumly handle my own move to Cyprus, not just the company?

Yes, and they are separate jobs. The Yellow Slip is the EU registration certificate for EU citizens, €400 per applicant. Cyprus tax residency with the non-dom registration is €750 per applicant, and non-dom status means no Special Defence Contribution on dividends for seventeen years. Forming the company does not make you Cyprus tax resident, and being Cyprus tax resident does not require a company — people arrive needing one, the other, or both.

Is the bookkeeping software included in the formation fee?

Your Sumly account opens the day you order formation, at no extra cost, and the first 30 days are free with no card. After that the platform is €39 a month on Base, where Sumly books everything and you review and file, or €190 a month on Premium, where your own Sumly certified bookkeeper prepares and submits the returns. The formation fee itself is one-time and separate.

What happens if my company is not approved?

You get every euro back — that is the 100% approval guarantee, and there is no fine print. In practice, approval risk usually comes down to the company name and the paperwork; we check both before filing, which is why the guarantee is one we can afford to give.
