HOW IT WORKS

An independent auditor, ordered without leaving Sumly

Sumly doesn't perform audits — the engagement is always carried out by an independent, ICPAC-licensed Partner Auditor. What Sumly does is remove the scramble: you order the audit or review from your dashboard, the Partner Auditor gets books where every entry links back to its source document, and you (or your Sumly certified bookkeeper on Premium) hand over finished year-end statements instead of a shoebox.

  • Order the audit or review directly in your dashboard
  • Verified, ICPAC-licensed Partner Auditors — the audit stays independent
  • Every entry links back to its source document: a complete audit trail
  • Finalize the year-end statements yourself, or let your bookkeeper on Premium

AUDIT OR REVIEW?

What changed in 2026

From 2026, the smallest private Cyprus companies may replace the full statutory audit with a lighter review engagement — still performed by an ICPAC-licensed auditor, still filed the same way, but with less procedure behind it. Whether your company qualifies depends on its turnover and assets over two consecutive years. Your Partner Auditor confirms which applies; either way the books Sumly hands over are the same, complete and reconciled.

  • A review engagement is lighter than an audit — not a way around it
  • Still an ICPAC-licensed auditor, still the same filings
  • Your Partner Auditor tells you which engagement your company needs

Audit questions, answered

Does my company still need a full audit from 2026?

Every Cyprus company still needs an ICPAC-licensed auditor to sign off its annual accounts. What changed in 2026 is that the smallest private companies — measured on turnover and total assets over two consecutive years — may have a review engagement instead of a full audit. It is lighter, not optional. Your Partner Auditor confirms which applies to your company; the books Sumly hands over are the same either way.

Can Sumly do my audit?

No — and no software or accounting service legally can. The statutory audit must be performed by an independent, ICPAC-licensed auditor who signs the report in their own name, exactly as the law requires. What Sumly does is arrange it: you order a Partner Auditor in the dashboard — a licensed auditor or audit firm Sumly has verified — and your books arrive audit-ready, so the engagement takes hours instead of weeks. Everything else your company needs happens inside Sumly.

How do I appoint an auditor for my Cyprus company?

From your dashboard: order the engagement, and a verified Partner Auditor receives it, with books where every ledger entry links back to its source document. Sumly connects you; the Partner Auditor performs and signs the audit independently.

What does the auditor need from me?

Finished year-end statements, a reconciled ledger, and the documents behind the entries. In Sumly all three exist by default: reports are live from the books, bank feeds are reconciled, and every receipt and invoice stays attached to its entry. You hand over a trail, not a shoebox — which is why the audit is fast.

Auditor vs accountant — what's the difference?

An accountant or bookkeeper keeps the books and prepares the filings during the year. An auditor is independent of that work and examines the year-end accounts to give an opinion the law requires. Sumly separates the two cleanly: a Sumly certified bookkeeper on Premium keeps the books; a Partner Auditor audits them. What the bookkeeper covers is set out on our dedicated bookkeeper page.

Does a dormant company need an audit?

A dormant Cyprus company still has annual obligations and its accounts still need to be signed off — dormancy does not automatically exempt it. Whether a full audit or a review applies depends on the company's figures; your Partner Auditor confirms which, and the filing itself is simpler when the books are empty but reconciled.

How much does an audit cost in Cyprus?

It depends on the size and complexity of the company and on how clean the books are — which is why we don't print market figures. Partner Auditor engagements start at €950 and are quoted per company, and because Sumly books arrive complete and reconciled, the hours behind the quote are far fewer than for a folder of PDFs.

I already have an auditor — can I keep them?

Yes. Sumly's books export cleanly and every entry carries its source document, so any auditor can work from them. Partner Auditors are there for companies that would rather order the engagement in one click than manage the relationship themselves.

I'm an auditor — can I receive Sumly engagements?

Yes. ICPAC-licensed auditors and audit firms can become Sumly Partner Auditors: your own login, engagements sent to you and paid per audit, and Sumly AI to chat through the books — most Partner Auditors spend only a few hours per client. Bring 10 clients into Sumly (we migrate their books free) to get verified. See sumly.cy/for-auditors.
